Do you mean you want some future to buy and sell your upgrades?
I don't see how this will benefit the site but i think if i can find some cheap upgrades probaly i will buy a few.

that would only be worth it if your upgrades degrade over time...picking them up cheaper I mean.

Hmm...

I'd say NO

I mean, think about it...

if you were able to sell your upgrades and such for MD, then the month you plan on cashing out, you can just sit there with some MD, then sell ALL of your upgrades that you WOULD lose once you cashed out and gain more money for it...

*thumbs down*

Settlements seem like the only useful thing for trading, except you could sell it and just take it over after you sell it. It's seems like there's nothing worth trading, unless in the future you would be able to collect items that provide benifits like: Increase attack by 5% or Increase MD winnings by 2%.

I've been thinking about SELL upgrades too. Here's the twist.. Selling any  current upgrades lets say attack. level 5 was bought 800 MD... sold about 40-50% of the current attack level price. sold at 320MD or 400MD... instead of adding the MD to your remaining MD... the 320 or 400MD should be considered as MD credits... the benefit of it is buying another upgrade, let say defense... for example... you want to ugrade your defense to level 6 at a cost of 1750MD but you only have 1430MD from ypur remaining MD... but since you have a MD credit of 320MD.. in essence... you have 1430 +320 =1750MD. and you can buy the upgrade. MD credits can only help you buy upgrades to avoid bias in payouts. This idea could help players change strategy like from attack-based account to defensive-based..blah3x

To institute trading, you need items that can be found/stolen that do not have a set value.  Currently all of the upgrades and even settlements have a fixed value that is the same for everyone. There is no point in selling a defense upgrade at a 40% loss to buy a weapon upgrade at regular cost, when you can just hold out another day or two and buy the weapon straightup without downgrading your defense.

The suggestion of stat boosting artifacts would implement something worth trading for.  Consider this scenario:

Player A has an artifact that he found that grants a +2 bonus to attack, but a -1 penalty to scouting.  Player B is shoring up his base for an attack on a particular player's homestead and has already scouted it.  He contacts Player A and offers 5k MD for teh artifact.  They meet up and do the exchange.

This scenario wouldn't have reason to happen with the game as it is now because nobody is going to take a loss on one of their upgrades for just cash.

I think members should be allowed to trade with each other (like moves, and upgrades for md). So like if someone needed more anytime moves, they could negotiate with another member and trade the moves for mars dollars or if a member were about to cash out, they could "sell" their upgrades for more mars dollars to someone who needs the next upgrade.

What does everyone think of this ?

I like this idea a lot.  Not only would this benefit users, but the site as well.  Eric could take a % fee from each transaction.  Say I wanted to sell an upgrade for 3000 MD, it could charge a 1% fee, so the site gets 30 MD back.

Well, there would be alot of issues with that. Some being, people making multiple accounts, and trading over.
