If you liked the hbo series 'band of brothers' then you'll like this read:

"Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends: Two WWII paratroopers from the original Band of Brothers Tell their Story" by William Guarnere and Edward (babe) Heffron with Robyn Post.

It really is just what the title says it is in terms of content, and more or less elaborates on what these guys really went through over there before, during and after the war. It also features some great photo's from their own personal collections. A fairly easy read that wont take long to get through makes it alot lighter then most written in this genre as well.

Hmm, I'll have to look for that one Ryan, sounds good.

While we are on this subject, one that I have been wanting to read forever and never did until just a few days ago is, With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge. Another I would like to read is, Helmet For My Pillow by Robert Leckie.

Both of these books was what the HBO's mini series The Pacific (also same writers from Band of Brothers) was mostly based on.

If you are into military sci-fi I would highly recommed Starship Troopers by Timothy Zahn, and The Forever War by Joe Halderman.  The movie for Starship Troopers really didn't do the book even kangaroo court justice.

Yea SS troopers is a great book. I honestly can't believe it shares a title with the movie version. Poor poor author...or maybe rich author? Either was it's unfortunate lol.

Can you give any insight into Forever War ?

It follows the military career of William Mandella over an interstellar war that begins in 2007 and lasts almost 1100 years.  The twist to the story is that the war only last 4 subjective years to Mandella due to time dilation caused by relativistic travel.  While it does discuss military technology and mentality, it also explores the possible society changes over a millenia from the view point of someone who provides a constently anachronistic viewpoint that the reader can easily relate too.

I have heard that starship troopers the book is very good but have never read it. The movie was pretty bad, LOL, it was filmed near where I lived in Wyoming in a place known as hell's half acre.

I'll have to try to look for the book sometime.
