The war will begin on June 1, 2009

Alliances that wish to participate can opt in on the alliance page.

All settlements will be freed on June 1 at reset.  Force cards will not be allowed for the entire month, for anyone, whether you are in the war or not.

We will be releasing settlements every night and keeping track of how many your alliance conquers daily.  There will be prizes handed out individually and for alliances.

The alliance prizes will be as follows:
Overall:
1st place $100 split among members
2nd place 75 credits split among members
3rd place 50 credits split among members

Weekly:
1st place each alliance member gets 250 moves and 10 settlement takeover cards
2nd place each alliance member gets 100 moves and 5 settlement takeover cards

Individual prizes are as follows:
Overall:
1st place 2500 moves and 25 credits
2nd place 1500 moves and 10 credits
3rd place 500 moves and 5 credits

Weekly:
1st place 50 settlement takeover cards and 500 moves
2nd place 30 settlement takeover cards and 250 moves
3rd place 20 settlement takeover cards and 100 moves

Daily:
1st place 25 Settlement takeover cards

Best of luck to all players.

Now the good news for everyone even if not in the war!  Purchase bonuses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you spend $40 or less you will get a 10% bonus in moves plus 10 settlement takeover cards for every $10.

If you spend more than $40 you will get a 15% bonus in moves plus 15
settlement takeover cards for every $10

Now the big bonus, if you spend over $100 you get a 20% bonus in moves and 20 settlement takeover cards for every $10.

These are 1 time purchases.  You do not get to add up your purchases to reach a level, however if you reach a level then want to make a smaller purchase I will honor the higher bonus level.

For example if you spend $100 and get those bonuses, then later in the month only want to make a $5 purchase you will still get the 20% bonus.

We have made a slight change in how we will be tracking this.

All alliance numbers will be tracked by a snapshot just before reset.  So the number of settlements your alliance has at 11:59:59 game time will be counted for totals.

Here is the change
Individual numbers will be tracked by takeovers.  This means you get credit for every takeover whether you control it as reset or not.

So if you take a settlement you get individual credit no matter what, but alliance credit if you still control it at reset.

Best of luck on your strategies!

1 more change for everyone.

We will now be tracking alliance numbers on a live basis.  When you takeover an ungoverned settlement your alliance gets +1 to alliance numbers.  If you takeover a settlement from another player that persons alliances gets a -1 and your alliance gets a +1.  This will be tracked on the war page.

Congrats to Mythbusters for winning yet another war!
Spyders 2nd and Dragons 3rd.
Individual winner is jkyeb!
ben 2nd and mini 3rd

congrats to everyone!

ok, lets work on suggestions for the next war.  I feel (and I'm pretty sure most will agree) a month is way too long.  I think we should do wars more often, but shorter length.  I'm thinking once/quarter, but only for a week.  The result of this will be slightly lower prizes, but I think that would be ok too.  Lets hear everyones thoughts about what we can do to improve this.

I love the idea not allowing the force cards in the war cause it made it more interesting but releasing the settlements daily it made it boring as heck because it made it an settlement easter egg hunt. I guess thats why some alliances gave up on it cause it was easy.

I don't mind if the war is a week or month long but make it like it was last year without the force cards again and plus make it for no warps can be open during the war. Please don't release the settlements this time just make it head to head so all alliances will be a part of it or continue to play the war.

I totally agree with you, Spyder.  It was boring because there was no one to attack...and when you did attack, it didn't really affect anything anyways, so in my opinion, it was pointless.  We decided to not play after the first week.  Last year was fun because you actually had people owning the settlements and when you attacked them, it took away from their count.  This year, it was just whoever found the most free settlements was the winner.  I was bored the first few hours of playing.  I played really hard the first night because I thought that we were going to be able to keep what we got...my eyes were burning and my head hurt by the time I went to bed.  Then, when I found out that we weren't keeping them, I thought it was pointless.  All that "work" for nothing.  Once someone got far enough ahead of you, you couldn't take them down like you could last year.

If you're going to do another one, make the settlement count just like it is during regular play when you take a settlement from a certain alliance it is actually like gaining two.  It is loads more fun to play this way, and I probably will join in if it is.  If you make another Easter Egg hunt, forget it, it's not worth my time or my head hurting and eyes burning.  Smiley

As a point of clarification on this statement:  We put in the mechanic (after the first day) that decreased a given alliance count whenever they lost a settlement over the course of the day.

The suggestion fo quarterly wars is excellent.  Shorter duration also makes sense.  Would hope thsat all settlerments would be released before start, to give everyone an even start.  Think that a litle variety would be good too:  sometimes allow force cards, sometimes no; sometimes release settlements each day, sometimes not.   John

I'm gonna keep this short & sweet since I already posted something about this. For the next war if its possible.

First idea ~ Time Warps can't be open during the war.

Second idea ~ Do not allowed moves to be sold in the stores during the war.

Third idea ~ Do not allowed moves to be traded during the war.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more thing no force cards again cause I really love that.

i think that the idea of disallowing moves to be traded during war is not plausible. i think that the release of settlements can be done every few days instead and the timings unexpected Wink

I know folks can store up on tons of moves before the war but what I am saying is during the war that no time warp & not allowing moves in the store & not to be traded during the war so the game could make money.
