I'm looking for a single word name, like all the other stats.  It's just easier for me to work with on the back end that way.

It has come to our attention that people are using their stores as storage for minerals.  Now while this is a very great thought for the person who came up with it, it is obviously not within the scope of game play.  It causes storage to be irrelevant.  We have been discussing some solutions and wanted to get the players opinions on the best way to solve this problem.  Here are the options we have come up with so far.

1. Eliminate all minerals from being sold in stores.
2. Ignore the problem and let storage upgrades become obsolete
3. Create a limit of number of items that a store can hold along with the number of units per item.  (ie limit of 10 items in store and each item has a max of 10 units)
4 Create a system that allows a small percentage of people who are at your store "steal" an item from your store.  This would allow minerals to be in a store for storage, but puts them at risk to be stolen.

Please give your thoughts and suggestions if these don't fit what you think is a good solution.

I like #5 the best ... since it is the fairest, and people can not just
open stores to store more minerals than their storage stats.

A BIG example of this would be Ben's store ......what is his storage stat i wonder.Huh

Jason if you don't do something to deal with this soon all players will own stores... and that would totally dispuse with your idea of storage stats.

i was actually hoping to see the storage use on phobos, the new moon

i upgraded it before it went functional
and i have not used it except very few times
was not really a requirement for me to do so
more a curiosity to see how it works
that said, storage is already obsolete in most cases

i was never in need to keep minerals in my store
and it frankly annoys me to see a lot of minerals in stores ticker
not to mention at outrageous prices

i think the easy way to deal with it is to allow the store to do its purpose
and that is to sell the items, not store them.
however for that we'd need a limit on the max price on minerals
make them sellable, not storable when in stores

maybe if their price is a bit less then what players get for minerals from populated settlements,
many will stop using stores and buyers will come to empty stores,
and why not, buyers might find use for their storage while at that
cuz will help them empty cargo faster then the time required to get to a good settlement

another good option would be to make available only 1 kind of item
as we already have auto restock if we want to sell more
but is not such a great idea if u want to buy stars
so again, i'd only suggest it for the minerals

heck no dont limit price of minerals i have made killer mds from mine lol and i must point out that i am not using my store to store the minerals and with the possibility of mineral missions  some of the minerals may be able to sell for more than what they are worth at the hub exp.  the hard to find ones.i say just limit how many of the same thing  u can add to your store at one time thus taking care of using the store as storage.

admins could allow a limited amount of minerals be traded via forum
just as the list of exp cards dropped to rares only
that way you'd still get best price for your minerals
but only those wich are contest or mission requirements

you'd get even better deals without the 10% the store would take,
unless u forgot them stashed in your store
and they sold for cheap while you were offline...
wich might actually happen anyway depending on the rewards

not to mention we'd finally have a good use for storage on mars
but i still expect more use for it on the new moon

Why don't we already have use for it? You can make multiple trips to the hub while you control it with the proper use of storage. What is useless about it?...

first cuz stores are a cheap way to get all the storage u want,

second cuz if u have maxed out cargo, u have less use for storage

third cuz most players regardless if their cargo is maxed out or not,
rather use stores then storage, or don't use storage at all

but maybe i should edit my post to say

After a lot of thought I've decided to introduce a new stat "Capacity" that will govern the total number of minerals you can have in your store.

Capacity will start out at 100, and be upgradeable to 250.  The cost to upgrade will be 25K per 5 units.

As further clarification, if someone has more minerals in their store than their capacity allows, they will not be able to add any new items until they have dropped their current capacity below their capacity level.

I like #5 the best so far.

Please do NOT use the theft idea, I HATE the thought that someone
legitametly selling items in store will be penalize because other unethical
people are abusing the system.

I know the administrators already have a lot to do, but could you not
consider assigning someone to montior stores , or a player "crime stoppers" type program ... where stores that are overstocking and
charging overly rediculus prices will be contacted by admin, and given warning to stop and then if they still continue ... punish THEM (even kick them out) if it continues. and NOT punish people who are playing not only by the "rules" but with genuine  intigrity.

Whatever you do will not please everyone, but again please do not make
it punish everyone - even the innoncent.
