This is due to the fact that the site isn't making that much money right? that's probably the same reason Eric isn't showing the same interest in the site anymore.

Well do something about it. I for one haven't played for about a month or so. Still logging in but I don't really feel the need to play. Soon enough the need to log on will be gone too.

What happened to the suggestions I made about being able to buy more than just moves, homestead relocations and radar upgrades? I'm pretty sure those are easier to implement than the whole "moon" thing.

Why don't you get paying ads? I really don't think the ads on the site do that much for income. Why not look for another ad site then? And if it's causing the game to go slow then don't put them in that window, but you could always put them in the forum. That one gets a lot of traffic.

Advertise yourself. Submit the site to a couple of free directories. Submit it to online gaming lists (I'll be happy to do this one myself if you provide a banner and a decent description for the game).

The fact that the site has a page rank of 3 is really not something to be proud of. I managed that with a personal blog in a language that's not spoken all over the world.

Get yourself some offers. You used to have those, what happened? You reward players with ingame stuff and you get income, or at least free advertising.

And why don't you do promotions and special offers anymore? Those were a regular thing.

I'm sorry to say this but at this rate (with people still cashing out and no real profits to be made - just look at benh777 cashing out  $1200) the site's future, or rather its immediate future looks grim.

You could also put a cap limit on how much a person can cash out for.  Max $100 per cashout for example.  Putting a ceiling on cashouts might help by reducing the time needed to save money for someone that has saved up more MD than $$$ taken in by Exodus.

You could put an expiration date on MD cards too.  After so many weeks or months, the MD cards convert to regular MD so they ppl can sit on them.

Have more specials where people can buy moves for 1/2 off or something like that.

I agree that figuring out how to better advertise the game is a best option.
I put my link in blogs every  so often but that doesn't touch very many people if they don't read it.

*raises eyebrow*

interesting...

One of the things I thought about was having a special raffle in which people put in MD...and it won't be cheap, either...that way, the  bigger guys will put in the MD and help stop a  little inflation..

I doubt he cheated...

me thinks that he just had all that MD and nothing to do with it, and no intention to do anything with it since he was where he was in the game...

It is a no brainer that unless there is something in the game to make people spend their MD, that cashouts will continue to be a problem.  There needs to be something in the game to buy to keep people from having an abundant amount of MD.
Maybe people here who have their own business could pay so much MD to have their link posted as an ad on here?
Maybe you could allow people to buy cards(non-transferable) that allow them to teleport to a specific location.
I think the ultimate thing to do though is put a cap on how much a person can cashout (limit it to say $200 or less).
I don't think Eric ever intended for the cashout to be a source of income for players.  My guess it was meant to be a reward for loyalty to the game.
You could also go back and allow people to cashout for a certain prize or prizes in stead of cash.
I hate to see the game go under due to people cashing out and draining the game of needed cash to keep it going.

I like that idea, I would exchange my cash-out for the right prizes if they were offered !

LOL, I did not cheat.

I had no intention of cashing out, but I was at 30/30 for over a year and got bored. admins won't change the game, what was I to do other than keep accumulating md? So I cashed out.

I started over at 0/0 now it is a little more fun now that I have something to play for. The only problem is that I'm almost back to 30/30. The game is too easy.
