Do you already get paid to leave your computer on?

hey,
im just starting out testing this weird program
a few of my friends have received cash from it
20$, 30$ last month
all that is required is to keep this program running on our computer, in the background..
they say it consumes nearly any of the computer's resources and is completely trojan, spyware, etc, free...

the software belongs to a corporation that is describing the Gomez PEER like this:

Each PEER in Gomez's network [that's us] serves as a "beacon," running in the background of your PC, contributing its spare resources (such as otherwise wasted processing power, RAM, and bandwidth) to test the performance of Web sites.

my friends claim its a clean piece of software so i got nothing to loose and im gonna try it out too
