About competitions...

a couple things I have noticed when I did another competition today...

First, I think that when a user joins a competition more than once, it should be flagged as cheating...it's not fair to some players that they lose to the same player in the same competition more than once

Another, it is obvious that those that play in the competition first will have the biggest advantage, due to the fact that there are no claimed settlements and the person doesnt need to worry about attack to take settlements off of people...

Maybe there is a way to make it so that once you are doing your moves, it will show how much each player has and how many moves left?  that way, if you go last, you will know how much you need to catch up

another thing, maybe give out some little rewards for these...have a competition Hall of Fame or something, and give out real game cards for how well they have done...

I'll have to look at the double signups.  I thought I had that fixed so that they couldn't do that.

I think, the people that were getting double entries were those that were using the game credits to enter.. I know they were automatically added people into that comp twice.

And CSS is right, if that player got stuck with a double entry, and wins.. it shows them winning something in 2 places, which knocks out the person who should have won for the next place prize.

and what I meant by what you quoted was something like this:

say, the contest I entered started a couple hours ago, but I just logged in and checked it out...

I go to the page to enter, and it has all the players that are a part of the contest, as well as how many moves they have left, and also how many MD they have...

it says in the competition directions that you get to face off against 5 other players...

not the same person 3 times and two other players

I just think that being the last person to enter a competition gives you an advantage since you go out first...

and being able to take the last 2-3 slots to start a competition gives you an even bigger advantage

I don't think the bug is fixed for the competitions cause I just looked at it and someone name there 3 times and the last one someone name there 2 times. I was about to do 1 but not now until the bug is fixed so it will be fair to the to all 6 players that have signed up.

OK, couple things to point out on this...

Some people aren't paying "more" to enter more than 1 time....  it just gives them a double entry, which takes up 1 space (or more) from another player from entering in that competition.

You only play your set amount of moves ONCE, so why should be place 1st and have a double entry and win 2 prizes?

You have a 50% chance of getting your costs back, and a 1 in 3 chance of winning much more!    1 in 3, meaning you will or SHOULD be placing just 1 time...

After emails with an admin I was told that robertx paid twice for that competition, and that they weren't sure what to do.  I explained that I accidentally paid twice previously (not knowing that it had already deducted the funds from me before I hit the button to complete the transaction) and was simply refunded my 2nd entry.

In that top level competition I know that I was awarded 2nd place.  Other than that - no clue how the rest was done in it.

But, I am agreeing with you all - there should not be a way to enter the same competition twice.

Check the latest competition.  robertx apparently has gone yet again and entered twice in the last two spots.  We all know this isn't an 'accident' or an issue with the site.  It is pretty amazing how he is pretty much the only one that this happens to, especially when he is last to sign up (nearly all the time).

Can you post a prominent rule or something there that there is to be only ONE entry per competition if you can't just fix the problem?  This way, anyone entering on purpose like that can simply be DQ'd from the competition and simply lose the money.

I know there is a rule on the site that if you are caught exploiting an issue without reporting it that you can simply be banned without warning and disallowed to return.  Why can that rule not be implemented in this case?

This is more than a little foolish that this is allowed to go on and on like that.

lets be fair to robertx, he doesnt enter chat and not everyone is reading this post... and PLUS i remember one of the admins did say it was allowed some time ago...how is he supposed to know that we arent allowed to do that anymore?
