For all of you guys out there starting your own alliance. Let me tell you something....

1.) You have no money

2.) You have no settlements

3.) You have no settlements so you can't up your luck for motherloads

4.) You probably have no idea what you're doing so you probably don't
     even join settlements

So....help clear the alliance page. Disband the alliance with just YOURSELF and Billy Bob Waterhead in it.  That is all. Thanks for attending....Algonquins are cancer.

You have 4 members and 28 settlements. If you had, say, 1000 settlements I might be more willing to believe you when you say "We explain each and every step to play" etc.

By way of comparison, Domination has 920 members and 8019 settlements, and Algonquins has 311 members and 12922 settlements. 28 settlements ain't gonna get you squat in the way of mining bonus. The only way these "start-up" alliances work is if there is at least one really good player to lead the group and provide a lot of settlements for the mining bonus. (The BEST alliance, with 6 members and 3826 settlements, is an example of this approach).

So while it's not "sssstttoooopid" to form a new alliance, pace saxman146, and under certain circumstances can work quite well, it IS stupid to do it the way the vast majority of people do.To take an analogy from American politics - if Rudy Giuliani fails to get the Republican nomination and forms a third-party campaign, he's going to get a lot of votes. If an unknown member of the City Council of some rural nonentity of a town decides he's going to form a third-party presidential campaign, he gets ... not very many.

In conclusion: Build up your own stats, get a lot of experience, and take over a few hundred settlements before even thinking about recruiting other people.
