I think a reset is fine as long as Alliances stay together, but we would need significant warning to prepare.

A reset huh?  hmmm well i think that will discourage folks from buying moves and such honestly.  I mean why am i gonna buy something if its gonna be poof gone in 3 month??  Smiley  I mean its a good idea in some ways but bad in others.  There just has to be a way.  In many RPGs that you play....there is a level cap before someone can be attacked.  In diablo 2 you had to be a lvl 9 before you could duel other players but you could still go kill other monsters haha.  So i know this doesnt really apply here but letting players get to a certain level before they get destroyed would prolly work.  Then they have time to get addicted before they get pwned.  Also how hard would it be to put in random aliens?  lol say they have a certain defense...we can choose to attack or not...then based on the hardness of the alien we get Mars Dollars.  Would add a whole nother element to the game.  You could have different level aliens.  like lvl 1 would have lvl 1 defense and lvl 1 attack.  Then you could have mystery aliens...these wouldnt tell you their level but would be worth more if you won.  This way players would still have a chance of losing Mars Dollars if they get beat.  Ok im done with ideas for now haha.

I, being of NooB status, agree that there are few things that I can get accomplished with all the "SuperPowers" here. Don't get me wrong... this is only my second day, and yes, I am hooked. I also don't have the available funds to purchase turns. Something along the lines of 5-10 turns added every 10 minutes or so, up to a max of 250, would keep me from accomplishing anything at work. What about a time limit on the game, to reset after a week/month? This would allow us NooB's to gain experience, and not feel like we will never become one of "THEM", because they are so far out of reach. This is just one NooB's 2 cents,... and I don't even have a penny to offer for YOUR thoughts...

I haven't thought much about putting a limit on settlement's but, maybe to gain more than 500 settlement's, a player would have to pay 100 MD for each settlement above 500, I think someone already said this ( smart guy ) and I think it sound's fair. A grace period for new player's, that give's them more money will only give more money to their attacker's, Limit who can attack who! All the game's I've played say large player's can't take much from small player's but small player's don't have much to take anyway!, and in a few months all of us will be large to a new player. This game is very new and I like it, but it need's fine tunning, I'm not jumping on anyone, just don't want to see this game end up like some others. My typing finger hurts now, gotta-go!

How about just having the limit at 500 and paying anyone with more than 500 right now 50 credits each?

Okay, new solution taken from everyone's input:

Implement the paying for settlements after a certain limit ($10MD/Day for each settlement over 500 for example) If you don't got the cash then you will loose settlements you can't afford at random until you are down to 500.

Implement aliens on dunes and such that appear at random that will give you small sums of money (maybe cut the max from 100 to 50) and don't allow players under 5-10 cumulative upgrades to be attacked by anyone over 5-10 cumulative upgrades.

Possibly still reset the game but not for a longer period of time, maybe every 6-8 months, just to start everyone over. What is going to eventually happen is that everyone will get to level 20 (the max level for everything but the radar) and the settlements will just keep changing hands at random. The reset would stop this from happening.

Since there are already going to be new types of terrain added to the game it shouldn't be too hard to implement the Martians. Thinking about it further, none of these solutions would be all that hard to implement and they would have a great impact on how new people begin to play the game.

Any thoughts?

I like the idea of "protecting" the new guys.....i think that limiting the ability of higher ranking players attacking them is the way to go.

I think it would be funny that, if you attack someone with a much lower level it would say that they "ran away in fear" and that you essentially were unable to attack them Smiley

I have to say that I don't normally play computer games, but I am hooked on this game. I know someone said something about aliens or monsters.  What if they were hidden in the game and they could take away some of your weapons, defense, etc. levels or you could trade in some of your settlements to keep your levels or something like that?  The monsters/aliens/whatever could chase after the more advanced players more than the others to try to even things up.

Okay, I have a new idea and I am sure that the paying members may not like this but here goes:

Reset the game.

If you reset the game, like every three months, new members will get a change to start a new with everyone else. Yeah, we will loose all of our settlements and have to start somewhere new but we will all start with a level playing field again. Alliances would remain in tact and maybe there could be a cash prize for the best alliance (average number of settlements/person, named sum divided among each other) or cash prizes for the top five (5) players.

This is the only way I see to even out the playing field.

Any thoughts?

this could add something to the game but maybe getting some sort of md incentive for every thing that gets reset (will explain in more detail in a bit)
